A Conscientious City

In trying to get inspired by Earth Day, I've spent the last few days wondering if living in France has changed my outlooks about waste, consumption and my effectiveness at finding new uses for old things. France definitely has a more eco-friendly culture than the United States, for example I've noticed people generally have less as far as clothes or other material things are concerned. However I think this might stem from the fact that the cost of living is higher here.

OWLS (A Placeholder Post)

No this is not a post about Harry Potter exams, this is a legitimate post about owls. But a quick word before I get to that. While my semester in London has sadly come to an end, my commitment to the blog has not. I have a few posts left in me and while I'm spending the week in Italy with my parents, the month of April's posts will be a reflective batch of my time in London. Additionally, my return to the US post obviously can't happen until I return to the States, so that will come next week.

Studying Abroad: My Final Reflection

Perhaps this is because there is no single adjective to describe the type of experience studying in a foreign country offers.

A Place Worth Protecting

5 am wake up call, hour bus ride to Quito Airport, 30 minute flight from Quito to Coca Airport, 10 minute bus ride from Coca to loading docks, 2 hour boat ride in a small canoe through a torrential downpour on the Napo river, 3 hour long Chiva ride on a gravel road as the rain slowed to a stop, then back on a boat for 2.5 hours to arrive at Tiputini Research station in the heart of the Amazon Jungle in Yasuni.

An Ode to my Academics in London.

Hey there! Well today was the day. I took my last IES final in the world's warmest classroom (don't worry it wasn't in the IES building). Soon I will be a college senior and that thought sickens me to my core. As I sit here and type this now I have the ever-daunting 80%-of-my-final-grade monetary economics final at City University tomorrow looming over me.
