Application Process

Start by notifying your study abroad office of your interest in IES Abroad and ask if there's an internal application process at your school. Next, check the application deadline and review the application requirements for your program of interest. Finally, submit the online application and submit the supplemental requirements from your MyIESabroad account after your application is processed.

Students must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the IES Abroad program.

Yes, but we strongly encourage you to start the process of applying for a new passport immediately.

This form is used by your home school to approve your participation in an IES Abroad program. Contact your home school Study Abroad Office for instructions on how to complete this form.

If required for your application, ask your home school advisor for more information about how to request this. Upload your official or unofficial transcript to your MyIESabroad account after your online application is processed.

Try visiting your school's library or a local copy shop. You might also consider downloading scan apps, such as Genius Scan, on your smart phone. 

Processing times vary for admission to Direct Enrollment programs, in which the university makes the admissions decision. However, if you are applying for an IES Abroad program, you will receive an admissions decision within 1-2 weeks. We will keep you updated throughout the entire application process.

Many students are able to apply financial aid to the cost of their study abroad program. Talk to your school's Financial Aid and Study Abroad Offices to confirm whether this is true for you and your particular package.

Students can apply for IES Abroad scholarships at any point in the application process—before you've started an app, while you're working on your app, or after you've submitted. To apply for scholarships and aid, you will need to know to which program you plan to apply.

For most IES Abroad semester programs, the minimum GPA requirement is 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. For most IES Abroad and IES Internships summer programs, the minimum GPA requirement is 2.5. There are some exceptions, however, so please verify your program's specific application requirements.
