Lost in the Clouds

Earth Day is this week and as an IES blogger I was prompted to share how it is celebrated in my host-country.  Well, joke's on all of us - in Rome the Giornata Mondiale della Terra is completely overshadowed by the holiday of the city's birthday on April the 21st.

How is it Possible to Feel Nostalgia for a World I Never Knew?

As my art class and I were sitting on the train and chugging along to The Hague, we could not help but bring up how little time we had left abroad. One friend mentioned how she felt more like herself here than at home and another said how she could not imagine how she ever felt nervous coming to a city which she now loves. I sat and contemplated how I felt as I spotted colorful tulip fields passing us by. When I think about going home in just a month I am not sad but I am also not excited.

Spring Break in Greece!

This Vlog chronicles my amazing trip to Greece for Spring Break! My friend Emma (A fellow U of R student with IES Abroad Milan) and I visited Santorini and Athens and had an incredible time! I will say one thing, though: Turkish baklava is better. Hope you enjoy the video! Look next week for my vlog of my weekend in Brussles.

Spring in Granada

Change always comes on fast; it catches up with us like time– the hour hand always precariously lazy next to the minute hand on a clock. You’re left wondering when it began, maybe you even missed the beginning because beginnings are, after all, very hard to spot.

IB 393: Leading Across Cultures

My favorite class I've taken this semester is Leading Across Cultures, or Leadership as we all call it. This class is about so much more than a textbook (we don't even have a textbook) so I made this video to showcase the type of learning experience you'll get if you take Kerstin's class -- and I highly recommend you do!

Paris Is Always a Good Idea

I never understood what all the hype was about Paris. It always seems to be the optimal setting in media such as Gossip Girl, Midnight in Paris, Ratatouille, Moulin Rouge, The Da Vinci Code, The Devil Wears Prada, and the list goes on. Seriously, there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to movies set in Paris. When I was thinking about my next adventure following Rome, I believed Paris was a given. I imagined myself eating macaroons under the Eiffel Tower, strolling down the Seine, and wandering through the Louvre.
