Weekend Travel: Firenze/Florence

Florence’s Piazza Repubblica at night is alive with activities.
At the Galleria Accademia, Michelangelo’s David steals the show.

After climbing the tower of the Cathedral, the view of the city and the dome of the church was well worth the climb to get there.

The street right along the Arno River makes for beautiful views.

Florence’s famous Ponte Vecchio, known for being home to superb jewelry shops.

With one week left in the program and my time in Italy limited, I decided to visit Florence and Venice for the weekend. Florence, though still one of the largest metropolitan areas, was a bit more peaceful and manageable after being accustomed to the hustle and bustle of Rome. We took the time to visit the Duomo-Florence Cathedral, David at the Galleria Accademia, and check out Florence’s renown leather market.
