Swiss Alps Hike

One of the optional day trips for my program is a hike in the Swiss Alps. This has definitely been one of my favorite trips of the program. So, if you are thinking about going, do it! We woke up early and took a bus to Engelberg which was only a couple hours. There were three options for the hike each with a differing level of difficulty. I opted for the more strenuous uphill hike. I was a little nervous, but it ended up being the best decision because of the great views and the snow which I'm a big fan of. It was definitly a hike and required a lot of effort but the views and the fresh air were so worth it. We took regular stops and at one point all sat down for a mini Swiss Alps picnic. As we continued to climb, we made it above the clouds and the views become more and more magnificent. Eventually we made it to the top of the summit and there was a substanial layer of snow on the ground. We had a spontaneous little snowfight and made a couple snow angels. The whole hike was such a beautiful adventure and the photos simply cannot capture the true beauty, but I did my best to do it justice :)
