Reverse Culture Shock

I landed in Houston and found the nearest restroom off the plane. I prepared for this. I packed a dress and sandals in my carry on, and makeup so I could look good for my parents but also ready to face the Houston weather! I was greeted with balloons and we drove straight to Lupe Tortilla’s, my favorite Tex Mex restaurant. I had my favorite, queso and salsa and chips, then one chicken taco and one beef taco with beans and rice. I was spending two days, Sunday and Monday in Houston, and then I went on a small family vacation, which I just returned from. I’m about to go see my friends at SMU in Dallas tomorrow, and then I’m heading to New Mexico for two weeks and then Chicago for the summer. It’s weird to be back, because the cliche is true, how much things change and the more things remain the same.

I’m in Dallas now, and it’s so good to see my friends and see my senior best friends before they go have real world lives. All these emotional goodbyes in such a short time span, it’s tolling and makes me think about the future.

My invaluable time in Paris has made me more of an independent person, I found a lot more out about myself, and now everyplace I visited is a little part of me, and I of them.

Taking photos, writing, discovering new music are all among my favorite activities, right next to spending the majority of my time with my amazing Gamma Phi sisters and friends. I have an affinity for Thai food, candy, and Shirley Temples, but I cannot wait to try different foods from Paris and the surrounding areas. Full of wanderlust, my goal is to travel the world and live abroad doing what I love. I would love to share my experiences in Paris with you!
