This is a short video documenting the first of several field studies that are included in each Rio de Janeiro IES course. I appreciated the chance to learn outside of the classroom and to venture around the city, discovering the niches and crannies that house all the historical landmarks I tend to overlook on my way to class.
Suddenly I’m feeling like Bon Jovi jamming out to Livin’ On a Prayer because we’re half way there! My mind still can’t fathom the idea of being in Australia and I’m already half way done! How is this even possible? The time gods are not in my favor. It’s all just rolling by too fast.

La settimana scorsa ci sono state le vacanze di primavera e ho colto l’occasione per viaggiare per la prima volta questo semestre. Sono andata prima a Roma e sono stata lì per tre giorni. All’inizio, è stato un po’ pazzesco, perchè c’era quel giorno uno sciopero dei mezzi in tutta l’Italia, e dovevo stare in fila per un’ora per un taxi da Tiburtina.

Dopo il mio soggiorno a Roma, sono andata a Firenze. Il tempo era proprio bruttisimo il primo giorno, però il giorno dopo il cielo era terso ed è stato meraviglioso per fare fotografie. Firenze è sicuramente la città più incantevole in cui sono stata: è circondata da colline magnifiche ed è piena di edifici carini con tetti rossi. Come Roma, è bellissima nella sera e la parte sud della città è veramente molto tranquilla sul far della sera.

Per la Pasqua, sono andata a Santa Margherita Ligure con la mia famiglia italiana. È una città portuale che è anche una famosa meta turistica per gli italiani del Nord. Era facile capire perché: il mare è stupendo, l’aria è fresca, e la focaccia è la più buona che abbia mai mangiato. Posso solo immaginare quanto fantastico sarebbe in estate.

One of the classes I am taking this semester at UCT is Archaeology of Southern African Hunters and Herders. It focuses on hunter-gatherers living in southern Africa from their origins to their first encounters with colonists coming to South Africa. The class has weekly practicals in which we do exercises such as telling the age of death in human remains, determining the dentition of various species and classifying stone tools.
I feel like I’m always writing blogs when I’m angry. I guess I need to complain to someone and the internet was pretty much invented for that purpose. The topic today: biking in Freiburg.
This past weekend was a busy one, but Sunday was especially busy.
