Spring Break Part 2: Lovely London

Wednesday morning we flew to London. Leaving Dublin that morning, I was so sad to leave the friendly Irish people and the beautiful green landscape that passed under my plane window. But then I got to London and it was love at first sight and all was forgiven. London is such a perfect combination of old and new; a sweet cup of perfectly brewed tea in a modern stainless steel water heater. My senses were overwhelmed when I first stepped on to a London street.

The Urban Catwalk

Boston, New York City, and Chicago, all great centers of American culture, each of them uniquely displaying America’s best, ranging from architecture, education, arts, to fashion. Yet, with all the prestige these American cities bask in, Vienna and her delightful citizens by no means stand on the sidelines, instead through their unique sense of style, this Central European city steals the spotlight away from these vibrant New World metropolises.

TEDA, China’s Utopia?

Wednesday at 6:30 in the morning, all the students in my economics class, including our teacher went to the Beijing South Railway Station. We were to take the bullet train to Tianjin, where the chairman for the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) was going to give us a tour through Tianjin, and TEDA, the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area.  The chairman also worked for a major real estate company, so he could give us unique insight in to how real estate in China works.

Anime Contents Expo 2013

Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you about the Anime Contents Expo.

I saw a sign for it in the train station the other day and sorta shrugged it off, like yeah, it’d be nice to go, but I sorta had plans that weekend and wasn’t sure I’d be able to make it.

Coming “Home”

After a week and a half of wonderful travels, I am back home.

Yes, home in Berlin. On my way back I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I was going somewhere special, somewhere comfortable and familiar, somewhere close to my heart. Honestly, in my wildest dreams I never thought I would feel at home in a foreign city only after a month of being there. But, I suppose, absence really does make your heart grow fonder.

A Local’s Beach

By far one of the best parts about New Zealand is that you can find yourself on a beach- by accident.

In our attempts to find a local craft fair (which obviously was not very substantial, seeing that it merited no photos), my friends and I stumbled upon an adorable little community, in the suburbs of Auckland, nestled on quiet community beach.

The beach was beautiful and it was such a pleasure to people watch the locals enjoying just another Saturday morning at the beach.

A Drop of Water is Worth More Than a Bag of Gold to a Thirsty Man

On Easter Sunday, my roommates and I had our friends over to play board games, cards, and to just hang out. We had a lot of fun, and our friends left around 12:30 AM, Easter Monday. Not long after they had gone, my roommates and I discovered that we barely had any access to water! The showers didn’t work, bathroom sinks were dry, and toilets wouldn’t flush (gross, I know). We all had to brush our teeth, wash our faces/shower, and well, you know.
