Weekend Trip to Dresden

IES Abroad students had the opportunity to sign up for an optional trip to Dresden, Germany. Under a three-hour train ride away from Berlin, seventeen other students and I got to experience the new sites and food Dresden had to offer. IES Abroad purchased everyone a pass that gave us access to all the museums which we took full advantage of. Come along on my journey through Dresden!

All Around Christchurch

Hi everyone!! I have been in New Zealand for a little over a month now, and it already feels like home here in Christchurch! I decided to post photos of things to do around the city for those potentially studying here or planning a trip in the near future. Christchurch is one of the biggest cities in New Zealand and the biggest on the south island, meaning there is plenty to do and see while here. Below are a bunch of my favorite pictures and places you can easily get to from university.

On the Go

After two and a half months of being abroad, I've already seen more of the world than I did during my prior 21 years. Below I've created a photo journal of my travels so far.

Basking in Bologna!

Bologna was by far one of the most recommended places for me to visit. Not to mention, I had an Italian professor in high school who was from Bologna and she didn’t have enough great things to say about the city. I was beyond excited to go! I took an hour-long train ride from Milano Centrale to Bologna Centrale. I headed straight for the towers, as they were what I had heard and learned the most about. The streets were filled with people. There were so many artists, street performers, and visitors.

Rome-ing Italy: My Weekend Trips

What is up party people?! I have been away from the keyboard for far too long and I apologize. I know you are dying to know what original ideas this inexperienced white male has to share with the world. Well, I’m glad you asked. Desperate for inspiration, I had to live a little so that I could create (something interesting at least). This blog post is officially my “On The Road” experience. I have been to grandiose places, and they worked wonders.

Managing Academics in the European Union Program

This past Monday, I finally finished my mid-term exams. This mid-term period caused me stress not in the sense that it was challenging but rather because I had limited time to prepare for them due to frequent traveling. The European Union program is centered around travelling throughout Europe, allowing students to learn outside of the classroom. Since I made my voyage from New York City to Freiburg in January, I have already visited various countries such as France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland.

New City, Old Friends

The day started like any other day. I woke up, took the train to school, went to class, stopped at the grocery store, and took the train back home. But instead of ending my Thursday by meeting friends for dinner or doing homework, I packed a bag and went to the airport. After a very quick, two-hour flight, I landed in London.

Shanghai - More Temples Than You Can Count

I have been in China for about two months now. It has been an amazing experience and I have been able to travel around a bit, with more travels to come, but a trend I have noticed at every new place I go to is that there are always beautiful temples in every city, and within these temples are gorgeous statues and figurines for worship. Here are just a few of the stunnnig temples and artifacts I have seen.

Actually ~ Studying ~ Abroad

Though it sometimes may be easy to forget while swept up in your travels, friendships, and new experiences, study abroad is at its core an academic experience. Some students may view this as possibly the least exciting part of study abroad, since it is what’s most familiar to them. There isn’t anything too different or exciting about the actual going to class part of study abroad, right?
