Future-Focused Friday: Things That Highlighted Our Connectedness This Week

What’s up, fellow human?! ✌️

The last few months have been packed with some serious solo time, haven’t they? Yet somehow we’re increasingly aware of how we’re all going through this together.

We’ve been thinking about our connectedness a lot. In fact, it’s one of the biggest things study abroad teaches us: we have so many more commonalities than we do differences, and that our shared human experience (on a 🌏 scale) is really real.

But it’s not just study abroad that can bring that connectedness to life. It’s also the game where every celebrity is somehow connected to Kevin Bacon, or this retirement home that’s asking for 🖊️👭, or seeing our students’ professional connections turn into humanity-driven careers (like these interns who just started an inclusive fashion blog with their mentor, designed to welcome every body). And not to mention learning new words in other languages, like our "connection" edition of Word of the Week!

So, as we once again dedicate Friday to focusing on ✨the future✨, we’re culling content about connectedness (say that three times fast!) to bring us back to this shared experience.

Even though our connections make the world feel small, we know the world is HUGE! And we can’t wait for you to experience this connectedness firsthand, and on a global scale.

“Not only have I learned to navigate public transportation, communicate effectively, and organize myself better, but over the course of four months I’ve become more in-touch with my introverted side. It’s one thing to be okay with being by myself, and completely another to feel comfortable with and energized by it.”
