Unplanned Adventure

Saturday, I woke up not really sure what I was going to do.  I knew that I had to get falafels from the Marais, on the Jewish street, where they make the best falafels.  This was immediately followed by buying chocolate.  In this particular shop, you could get 100 g of chocolate for 5 euros.  It was difficult to decide what to get, but all of the chocolates I chose were delicious.

After this, I headed to the Jardin Du Luxembourg with a friend who loves gardens.  The garden is ridiculously large.  It is really difficult to find your way around, no matter how many times you’ve been there.  My friend also took me to a secret garden, hidden above a train station.  It is really peaceful and gorgeous up there.  Paris does have a lot of beautiful gardens.

We then joined a couple other friends to go to the Marie Curie Museum.  The museum explained a lot about Radium, from its discovery to how it is used today.  The museum showed how when Radium was discovered, people thought it had healing powers and therefore was put in everything from hair care products to food.  It is actually scary to think that we may be putting something like that in our commercial products without even giving it a second thought.

After the Marie Curie Museum, we made a quick trip to the House of Victor Hugo, which turned out to be quite cool.  The house had several floors and Hugo lived on the second floor with his wife.  By the time this was finished, we were all incredibly hungry.  We decided to go to an Italian restaurant, which was a great decision on our part.  They have, and I am not exaggerating here, the best olive oil I have ever tasted.  This was followed by some gelato, of course.

Since we had a lot of time left over, we decided to take a walk along the Seine.  It was gorgeous and sunny, so we sat down next to the river for a bit.  A bit turned into an hour, which turned into two, and we ended up watching the sunset.

All in all, it turned out to be one of the best and busiest days despite the fact that I had absolutely no plans.
