First Impressions of Freiburg

I've been in Freiburg for just over a week now. I have to keep reminding myself of that. In some ways it feels like I've been here for much longer, and yet I'm still not fully acclimated to life here. I can't even begin to relay all that has gone on in the past week, but I will try and give you a glimpse of how I've begun to get to know this amazing city.

Photos 1-4: On the last day of orientation we were taken on a long hike through the Black Forest. After a couple days of jet lag and information overload, the hike was the perfect way to wind down and get some fresh air in our lungs. After the fairly long and strenuous hike, we stopped for coffee and cake and were able to relax and chat with some of the people we perhaps had not met yet. I really appreciated this day as a whole. The fact that this natural beauty lies just outside of Freiburg makes me love the city that much more. I can't get enough of those green hills.

Photos 5-8: These last photos are just a few snapshots I was able to get during the first week of classes. During this week we have double sessions of our Integrative Seminar and our German language classes. In between classes I've been wandering around and attempting to find my way. Every now and then I'll walk by a building that is so beautiful I can't help but stop and take a quick photo. I also, of course, had to try the bratwurst (photo 8) and currywurst (photo 6) from the daily market, which is so great I think I'll have to make a special post about it.
