Semana Santa

Semana Santa has finally begun, it seems surreal because Ive spent countless hours on Skype and travel sites planning the perfect itinerary for this break. The hard work has paid off and now the trip is finally coming into fruition. First stop Barcelona and I couldn't be more excited.

This first weekend friends from penn state who are studying in Portugal met up with two buddies and I in Barcelona. This is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world and it's easy to see why. Barcelona boast some of the most impressive pieces of architecture in Guadi's work, delicious tapas, desirable climate and to top it all off pristine beaches. What more can one ask for? I'll be honest Barcelona has been my favorite city other than Madrid since my time here abroad. That's a big statement considering I've been to some amazing places and I'm a die hard Real Madrid fan but beauty is too hard to ignore.

There's not much I want to tell you about Barcelona because I want you all to experience it for yourself. It's mandatory to visit la sagrada familia and go to park Guell, other than that you just have to explore and find the right barca for you. Please don't settle for tourist restaurants in las ramblas, be more adventurous and find authentic food (quimet quimet is wonderful). Take Barcelona for what it is and soak everything up around you.

I left Barcelona knowing I will be back, there's just still so much left to see and do. A weekend wasn't nearly enough, but the trip must go on. Next stop Croatia! You'll hear back from me later. Ciao!

Born and raised under the bright lights of Chicago, I was under the influence that I had seen it all. After my first trip abroad I was hooked, and I realized I couldn’t of been more wrong. With a thirst for adventure I’ve set out to explore the unknown during my summers off from school. My travels have taken me from ancient pyramids in Mexico to remote rainforests in Costa Rica, and now Spain is next up on the destination list. I can’t wait for my time abroad and here I plan to document all valuable experiences and insights about my journey in Spain. Hala Madrid!
