Don't Forget to Ask for the Check
I’m the slowest eater in my family, meaning that I’m nearly always the last one left at the dinner table, the one who doesn’t get seconds, and the one taking last bites as the waiter comes around with the check. As a kid, I was always one of the last ones lingering in the cafeteria when recess had long ago started (this was partially because I hated the cold and partially because I was a slow eater). I was also always the slowest walker, the slowest biker, and the slowest to get ready in the morning.
The Feria
You wake up at noon on a Saturday. The late night shawarma, which you ate at 5 a.m. as the birds began chirping, is churning in your stomach and your covers are on the floor. It’s beautiful outside and you want to make the most of the day. Luckily, the feria Recoleta is open and running Friday-Sunday every weekend! The shawarma churns forgotten, you basically leap out of bed (careful of the covers) and get your Feria fit ready:
Finding Small Spaces in a Big City
If you’re from a small town like me, where you’re usually surrounded by short buildings or trees, living in a city can be really overwhelming. The sun dips behind the buildings at 4 p.m., there’s not a ton of backyards or sleepy streets, and there’s always people everywhere no matter where you go. I went from my little town in North Carolina to Buenos Aires, which was a huge geographical and spatial change. After living here for four months, I have had to find places and ways to take a breath or I think I would lose it.
Holiday Homesickness
Hi everyone,
I hope you are safe, happy, and healthy!
I wanted to touch on something I know a lot of people worry about before going abroad for an extended period of time.
Homesickness.
I have been lucky enough to not be too homesick during my internship in Rome. I have had occasional bouts where I get sad, but nothing too extreme. This was honestly super surprising to me because I am extremely close with my family and thought I would get hit with homesickness like a freight train. But that train never came.
Am I Doing Enough?
Hi everyone,
I hope you are safe, happy, and healthy!
This post is a bit different from the rest of mine, but I wanted to tell you all about something that has been weighing on me for a while. I have been having the time of my life in Rome, but I sometimes find myself wondering, “Am I doing enough with my free time in Rome.”
Going Abroad While Abroad
Ironically, one of the best parts about living in London is how easy it is to get out of London. There are so many ways to get across the United Kingdom and Europe from London. Compared to the United States, where it takes four or five hours to drive across some states, it is surprisingly quick and easy to explore other cities and countries across the pond. I have tried to take advantage of these opportunities as often as possible. I have visited Cambridge, Edinburgh, Paris, and I plan to visit Vienna this coming weekend.
Budapest: My Dream City!! (Part Two)
Our first day started nice and early with croissants, a market in some random alley, and Fisherman’s Bastion. The city looked completely different in the day time. Better, if that’s even possible. It wasn’t super touristy either which is always nice. The weather, the architecture, the scenery was just perfect. Blah blah blah fast forward to my favorite part. THE BATHS.
Budapest: My Dream City!! (Part One)
Something absolutely amazing happened last weekend!! I got to visit Budapest! And it was everything I had ever dreamed of.
I've wanted to visit Budapest since I was 18 years old. I can’t really tell you the rationality behind it. Actually, I can’t even tell you why I loved it so much when I went this past weekend. I just did. It was something about the city, man. It just had a feel to it.
