Amsterdam, My Favorite Trip So Far

One thing about me is that I am not well traveled. I have lived in a small town my entire life and the most I knew about cuisine was that Applebees was open for half apps. Flash forward to last weekend, I am sitting on a plane going to Amsterdam. What was Amsterdam? Not sure but everyone says to go so I booked a ticket. I had no clue I was going to the Netherlands until the day before we were leaving!

Midway Panic

It’s now March. Midterms have passed, the sun is starting to come out, and the reality of returning to America is starting to become scarily ever-present. Frankly, I’m a bit stressed and scared. Job applications, figuring out housing for next year, planning my schedule for next semester, it’s hard not to feel like my abroad bubble is bursting. Sometimes I can find myself so wrapped up in my anxieties about returning to America that it can be hard to appreciate my time here in London.

South Africa's climate is generally mild, lacking in extreme temperatures. Additionally, since South Africa is in the Southern Hemisphere, seasons are the reverse of what you may be used to. Summer occurs between December and February, when the temperature averages 15°C and 35°C. In Cape Town, summer time is very casual; students typically wear shorts and T-shirts to lectures. The coolest months are June through August, when temperatures drop to between 3°C and 18°C. During the winter season, Cape Town can be cold and rainy, so packing warm sweaters, an umbrella, and raincoat is highly...
