We at IES Abroad are very excited to announce the opening of three new programs in Istanbul, Turkey starting in Fall 2013:
Turkey, once the center of the Ottoman Empire and now a modern country rich with an Islamic tradition, provides an ideal vantage point to study the Middle East. The program will offer courses taught by Turkish experts in history, political science, and international relations that focus on the Middle East, as well as Arabic language. The program will also include a week in Jordan, where students will be exposed to Jordanian perspectives on Israel, Syria, and Iraq, and visit the historic sites of the ancient country. The Turkish & Middle Eastern Studies Program will be located in central Istanbul and students will live in apartments in the central city.
Bogazici (Bosphorus) University is Turkey’s leading public university with a beautiful campus high above the Bosphorus on the European side of the city. The University is especially well known for its strong social science, engineering, and natural science programs. After completing an intensive Turkish language program at IES Abroad, students will take all of their courses (in English) at the University. Final admission decisions at Bogazici are made by individual departments, and a few departments (history, sociology, politics, and management, among others) have limited placements for international students. They may elect either to live in apartments in the central city or in a residence hall on campus.
Sabancı University is a small, private university, considered one of the top three private universities in Turkey and is highly competitive in admission. The University is located in a modern campus on the Asian side of Istanbul. Sabancı is known for its small classes, interdisciplinary approach to education, and active campus life. The University has faculties in management (accredited by AACSB), arts and sciences, natural sciences, and engineering, and the language of instruction is English. Final admission decisions are made by IES Abroad. Students may elect to live either in residence halls on campus or in apartments in central Istanbul.
We invite you to browse these new programs online or contact your IES Abroad Representative with any questions. We look forward to welcoming our first group of students in Fall 2013!
