Study Abroad with IES Abroad

There's a reason The George Washington University is among the 275 U.S. colleges and universities that partner with IES Abroad.

You might hear that it's our 70+ years of study abroad expertise. Or that we've been named Top Study Abroad Organization two years in a row based on student reviews. Or even that we offer 130 programs in 30 locations around the world and more than millions of dollars in scholarships and aid. All of which would be true. But there's one thing that shines through everything we do, and that's our unwavering commitment to you.

At IES Abroad, everything we do is about our students—from one-on-one predeparture advising to programming that is designed with your academic and personal goals in mind.

As a not-for-profit study abroad and internship provider, you are our bottom line. Your success is our success. And in today’s world, that’s a pretty extraordinary thing.

Scholarships & Aid

We commit millions of dollars in study abroad scholarships and aid because we firmly believe financial limitations should not prevent qualified students from going on an IES Abroad program. Learn more and apply! And, as one of GW's preferred providers, we partner with your university to offer FOFAC (Focus on Fall Abroad Community) scholarships to qualifying students on our Fall semester programs. Talk with the George Washington University Office of Study Abroad and follow FOFAC on Instagram to learn more!

Contact Your IES Abroad Representative

Because every campus is different, your Representative knows the policies and procedures at The George Washington University, and will provide assistance based on your individual, unique needs.

Curious about a specific program? Have questions about the application? Don't hesitate to reach out!

Once you apply to a program, your Representative will connect you with your personal Advisor who can assist with all things predeparture: understanding your visa process, preregistering for classes, learning about your housing options, and more.

Starting now until you return home, we're here to support you every step of the way.
