Giving Tuesday for IES Abroad

On November 30, 2021, the IES Abroad international community of alumni and friends joined Giving Tuesday’s celebration of giving by opening the door to an international education for future IES Abroad scholarship students!

The day began with news of a generous match gift challenge and was followed by a Live from Abroad virtual event, featuring current IES Abroad scholarship students studying in Dublin, Madrid, Milan and Nantes. These students’ areas of study ranged from engineering to fashion design. All shared stories of their travels, growth moments, and new friends, as well as moving accounts of how study abroad has changed their lives:

"My scholarship has helped me realize that if you look for help you will find it, and to stick to your dreams, make sure they become a reality. I have learned that you have to be thankful, but never forget where you came from. Opportunities like these really change your life in the most positive ways." (Jose • Milan)

Our scholarship student event was just the beginning of our Giving Tuesday donation celebration, which resulted in achieving the match gift challenge early in the afternoon, and more than doubling our original goal, with $40,000 in new gifts for student scholarships by end of day!

Together, we have provided a bright start to a New Year for a new class of scholarship students who will soon embark on journeys filled with opportunity, friendships, and a new sense of purpose at the global level. Let the celebration continue and thank you again!
