A Day in Tongli

Last weekend we took a short trip out to the nearby ancient water-town of Tongli.  It was very beautiful, and nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of  Shanghai!  It was well worth a trip outside of the city. The first street you will encounter in Tongli. Good luck bridge, named because it resembles the Chinese number 8. A tiger to guard the door. One of the many grand entrance halls in an ancient housing complex. Students listen as a tour guide explains the complex layout. One of the ponds inside a housing complex. A group photo at the pond! A nice, quiet place to sit for a while. A room in the wedding museum where the ceremony would take place. A view of the canals from a bridge. Some gondola workers relax in their boats as they wait for their next customers. A photo from our gondola tour. Returning from our gondola tour. Students enjoy a gondola ride through the town. Until next time...
