Here’s a peek at one of the many fun activities we did throughout the semester, Spanish cooking class! In one night, we learned how to make 3 typical Spanish dishes – gazpacho, paella, and tortilla de patata. First, gazpacho is basically a cold tomato soup, and it’s very easy to make; all you need to do is blend a ton of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and a bit of salt. Next, paella is a rice dish, and you can make it however you want (with seafood, vegetarian, etc.) but it takes a while. Lastly, tortilla de patata is like a potatoe quiche, and it’s a bit tricky because you have to flip it, like a crepe. However, as we discovered, the results are definitely worth the effort. I’m so in love with the food in Spain, but now I’ll be able to take these lessons home with me and keep cooking once I’m back.
