Dr. Magdalena Candioti holds a Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires and has served as a postdoctoral visiting scholar at Columbia University, the Max-Planck-Institute, and Harvard University. Her work has been extensively published in prestigious international academic journals, including The Americas and the Jahrbuch für Geschichte Lateinamerikas. In 2020, she received the Latin American Studies Association's award for the best article on 19th Century History. Her most recent publication, Una Historia de la Emancipación Negra. Esclavitud y abolición en la Argentina, was released in 2021.

As I stated in one of my first blogs, I was disappointed to see that I was assigned to live in the housing option that I had ranked the lowest. I was sure that it would ruin my experience, especially living so far from the center of Amsterdam. Despite these preconceived notions, I found ways to make my experience as amazing as I knew that studying abroad could be. The Environmental Studies modules include several extensive and exciting course- related excursions during which you will gather data and conduct research in locations such as the Black Forest and the Rhine River Valley.
