Entering my junior year as a finance major, I knew that I would need to have my head in the game when it came down to thinking about next summer’s internship and, potentially, my future with whatever company I end up at. For finance and some business internship roles, applications begin almost a year in advance. Thus, I have been in the thick of recruiting and interviewing right as my year abroad is beginning.

Academics Academic Overview In the IES Abroad Berlin summer program, you can opt to enroll in two or three courses for a total of six or nine credits, respectively, at the IES Abroad Berlin Center. There is an additional fee for students who choose to enroll in more than six credits. Classes are scheduled four days per week, and attendance is required. You are required to come prepared to class, to complete written assignments outside of class, and to sit for midterm and final examinations. In the days following your arrival, you will participate in the IES Abroad orientation which is mandatory for all students. The orientation includes important information about health and safety, housing, academics, and student life in the city. If you do not have an international plan for your mobile phone, IES Abroad staff will provide information on how to get a German SIM card for your phone.
