The program begins with an orientation period that introduces you to many aspects of life in Barcelona and includes the option of taking an 8-hour survival Spanish language course onsite. This language course is not worth credit but will be very helpful for your time in Spain. KUBA Exchange / visiting students can be assigned a buddy by the Global Services Center KUBA Program. KUBA (which stands for Korea University Buddy Assistants) buddy will help guide you through your semester at KU and help you adjust to life in South Korea. IES Abroad policy requires that all students obtain a functioning cell phone with calling and texting capabilities by the end of their first week of the program. Students are required to carry their cell phones at all times and be able to respond immediately in case of emergency.
