Trecking Through Tassie

After an amazing week in Cairns I was a little bit exhausted but I was also eager to see what IES had in store for us in Tasmania. I arrived back to RMIT Village at 1 am only to pack up and head out again at 6 40 am. Chay was waiting for Mercy, Gabe, and I and we met Sarah, who studies at La Trobe, at the airport. After a short flight we stepped off the plane in Launceston to surprisingly nice weather and set off to meet our driver for the trip, a typical Tassie bloke who never stopped talking.

Fiestas de Guápulo

The day after the fútbol game (update: Ecuador recently kicked Chilean butt!) Claire, Alfonso & I joined some La Católica friends for the fiestas del pueblo in Guápulo–a district of Quito that I had never explored before. It is a district with small bars and restaurants and people say the hippies like to collect here (although Ecuadorians love throwing around the word hippie in and out of context so I never really know).

I have been in India for three months now and have still not seen one Bollywood movie. So naturally I was skeptical of missing out on something this weekend when I visited Mumbai, the infamous home of India’s booming film industry.  It seemed kind of like visiting Los Angeles with no prior exposure to or interest in Hollywood – what’s the point?
