Achim Staguhn has a long history with IES Abroad, starting in 1979 when he served as student counselor. He has since built an extraordinary career, leaving a profound impact on the organization and its students. 

He oversaw the growth of the IES Abroad European Union and Freiburg Programs, established the Environmental Studies & Sustainability Program in partnership with the University of Freiburg's School of Forestry, and secured key agreements with partner institutions.

Achim also organized an internship program connecting students with Freiburg's dynamic NGO community and facilitated opportunities for students to live alongside German peers in university residence halls. 

His leadership extends globally, having also served as an interim director and management consultant at IES Abroad Centers in Delhi, London, Rabat, Vienna, Amsterdam, Siena, and Cape Town. Achim’s decades of dedicated service reflect his unwavering commitment to advancing international education, sustainability, and cross-cultural exchange.
