Every time I go somewhere new, I get the same reaction from friends and family. “Can’t wait to see your Instagram!” or “Be sure to post lots of pictures!” And I, too, have said similar things to the people in my life on vacation or study abroad. It all comes from a good place. We’re genuinely excited for the people we care about to visit beautiful destinations and experience fantastic new things. In the age of social media, we’re able to keep up with everyone’s lives and see these things almost as instantly as they do.

Part II. Homestays or living in France altogether, are like nerve-wracking sleepovers at first.
One weekend, two countries
After buying a ticket to Copenhagen two days before the flight’s departure on February 4th, I decided to take full advantage of the opportunity and explore not one, but two cities in not one, but two countries! I arrived into Copenhagen on that Thursday night and made my way through the metro (remarkably easy to navigate, as there are only two lines) to my hostel. As I walked out of the metro station, I was immediately greeted with the same friendly-colored buildings that I loved when visiting Amsterdam with my family years ago.
Highlights, Lowlights, and My New Moroccan Life
Today is my second day waking up in my homestay in Rabat: the place I will call home until I leave for the States at the end of May. Now that I’m officially settled in my permanent place residence, I want to take some time to reflect on all of my experiences and observations thus far along with my hopes and expectations for the future.

My first week in Rio de Janeiro has been a whirlwind of experiences! Even getting to Rio was quite difficult. As I made my way to the airport I realized that of course I was already running late. Then when I arrived I was held up by immigration. Brazil is not relaxed when it comes to extended visitors, they really want to make sure you´re leaving Brazil before your visa expires - and since I didn´t have the proof to show I would be leaving Brazil, it definitely took longer to be allowed to board my plane.
