First Impressions of Rome

The first week in Rome has been absolutely incredible. Our apartment is way nicer and larger than I ever expected and the location is incredible. The most incredible thing is walking out of the apartment and seeing the Tiber river and all of these gorgeous buildings all around me. I could not have asked for a more amazing city to visit.

Traveling Trauma

It’s easy to romanticize traveling. And travel is indeed a beautiful, wonderful, enriching thing. You become exposed to fascinating new people, cultures, experiences, languages, food (very important), architecture, you name it. Go figure, this has not been the case.

Before leaving The States I decided to study abroad for two semesters, because students who had formerly studied abroad mention that at the end of their semester they didn't feel ready to leave. I would much rather feel homesick and aching to return than leave just as I'm starting to feel assimilated. I'm looking forward to a semester where not everything is new.
