I am Maria Oldenburg, and I'm a sophomore Economics and International Studies double major at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. On campus, you can find me pretending to be a professional photographer, exploring the local coffee scene, or hopelessly planning my dream backpacking trip across Southeast Asia. Hi! I am an observant incandescent light bulb. I may seem dim idle, but I am constantly taking everything in. At times I flare up from the stimulus I receive from my surrounding environment.  I try to capture these unique moments through the sharp opening and closing of my camera's shutter by a mere click of a button. I use these captured images to give meaning to that moment and connect it to me, life, our world and the things and people that fill it. Won't you join me in putting this world into perspective?

Laura Plata is a rising sophomore at Yale University. She is the first in her family to attend college and will soon be the first to study abroad as well. Laura is currently undecided as to what her major will be, but she is interested in race and migration, international development, and socioeconomic inequality. Laura’s interest in French stems from a growing interest in refugee studies and immigration both within the U.S context and abroad. Two things she lives by are to always have dessert before dinner and to never end the day without feeling grateful.
