A Quick Update and a MOUSE

Hi, all!

This post will just be a quick update because I have to be up bright and early to catch a flight to London tomorrow!!! If you know me, you know that there are many, many British things that I adore, so this is super exciting for me.

Luckily, I’m going with an IES Abroad friend who shares my interests so we’re setting aside plenty of time to see lots of Harry Potter and Sherlock attractions. Now if only I could run into Benedict Cumberbatch!

Last weekend I visited Galway and it was my favorite place in Ireland so far. Everyone was superbly helpful and nice, and the streets were packed full of little shops and musicians playing their instruments. I heard that Ed Sheeran used to bring his guitar to Galway and play for money. NICE.

I’ve also booked a flight to Scotland for an upcoming weekend. I feel like all I do now is travel, travel, travel. I’m glad though because that’s all I want to do.

I did have a paper due today. Yes, I am still taking classes too. But because the classes are all about Ireland, even they feel like travel in a way. The professors are amazing and they’ve made such an effort to make the classwork painless. They realize that we’re incredibly busy here, and they’ve found great ways to make the learning fun.

Everything isn’t totally perfect here, of course. (I mean, ok, it’s pretty close; don’t get me wrong.) Last night while sitting in the kitchen, innocently watching episode after episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I was disturbed by a MOUSE. It ran right through the room before turning to stare defiantly at me and dart under the fridge. I’ve seen plenty of mice before, but it was still pretty terrifying, if only because it was such a shock. I’m also told that Ireland doesn’t really “have mice” so it’s probably a baby rat, but that rumor is not yet confirmed. Either way, there is definitely a creature among us.

Still, it’s a small price to pay for such a rad time.

That’s all for now.

Until next time,

Schyler
