The IES Abroad Center will hold a mandatory week-long orientation program beginning the day after the official arrival date. Orientation will allow you to become familiar with the IES Abroad Center space as well as the staff, your peers, and the city of Siena. There will be sessions about academic expectations, housing, health and safety, and Sienese culture. All students must arrive in Siena by 4pm on the official arrival date. It is strongly recommended that you fly into Florence Airport (FLR), as group transportation will be arranged from the airport by bus. The group bus will leave at 2pm. Students wishing to utilize the group bus should arrive in Florence (known as Firenze in Italian) by 1:30pm on the official arrival date to allow for time to get through customs. Wandering Vienna

After 2 full weeks in Vienna, I had begun to feel like I had seen it all, except for a museum or two that I was saving to visit with friends. I became a pro at the U-Bahn, expertly navigating my way to each stop (or expertly using my directions app), and I had seen most of the “big stuff”. I felt that way until I had a day off and could not come up with something to do. My friend and I decided that it might be fun to get off at a random stop and see what it had to offer. We ended up in a completely residential area. While it was new, it wasn’t what we had really intended on seeing.
