Saying Goodbye to Ireland

July 8th, 2023 12:40 p.m. I’m currently sitting next to a window on my flight out of Dublin. I have about an hour left and I’ve spent a lot of this flight thinking about my trip as a whole. Six weeks have felt like it both flew by and like it has been a year. I know this is something everybody says, but studying abroad is an experience I will hold with me for the rest of my life. There were so many components to this trip that I wasn’t expecting or even ready for, but I’m so grateful for every single one of them.

Psychology in Vienna

Vienna is an incredibly unique city to study psychology abroad in. This has been the place of major influence on the discipline, with two of the most notable schools of psychology being established here and boasting the workplace of famous names such as Sigmund Freud and Victor Frankl. Psychoanalysis, established by Freud has influenced the way that everyone views the field of counseling to this day. Anyone who has ever taken an introductory class in psychology knows those names, and walking the same streets that they did adds an extra level of uniqueness to studying here.

Notes on Intervals (Commutes)

There has been a shift in tempo; time spirals here. Days are long and short, tumbling over themselves as they pick up speed, winding up a continuous crescendo that either never quite peaks or lives in a constant state thereof, while simultaneously baring a still presence that my life at home struggles to maintain. I feel as if a river, living in flow, always moving forward and witnessing the new world around me.

Independent Travel Ban The health and safety of IES Abroad students is our highest priority. Regretfully, the conflicts in Ukraine and in Gaza continue. As such, IES Abroad will continue to prohibit independent student travel to these locations and their surrounding areas. To ensure student health and safety, IES Abroad (including IES Internships, Customized & Faculty-Led programs, and SAF) will continue its complete travel ban for Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, and the greater Middle East, which includes Palestine, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. A complete travel itinerary submitted...

A Weekend at Mont Saint-Michel

Mont Saint-Michel is the perfect weekend getaway from Paris! If you’re looking for stunning views, sandy beaches, and lots of cows- you’ve come to the right place! As encouraged by my host family, my friends and I took the train to spend Saturday and Sunday four hours away from Paris at the incredible Mont.
