Internship Attendance Policy Attendance is mandatory for all IES Abroad classes, including course-related trips. Any exams, tests, presentations, or other work missed due to student absences can only be rescheduled in cases of documented medical or family emergencies. There will be no penalty for the first absence in the Internship Seminar. A second absence will result in two percentage points being deducted from the final grade. Orientation Your mandatory orientation program begins on the afternoon of the official arrival date with accommodation check-ins, housing orientations, and a welcome event. Your flight should arrive at the airport by 12pm on the official arrival date in order to have ample time to go through customs and get to your housing by 2pm. Milan is served by two airports: Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN). Malpensa is located approximately 30 miles from Milan and receives almost all of the transatlantic flights.
