A Whirlwind Week: Inuyama Orientation

One of the things I've quickly come to appreciate about IES Abroad is how they ease you into your program. The morning after arriving to Nagoya, the 4th largest city in Japan (which may not sound super impressive, but keep in mind that Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world), we were whisked away to a smaller, much quieter castle town for the IES Abroad orientation.

Stocking Up and Shipping Out

Welcome to my IES Abroad Blog! For those of you reading this that don’t know me already, I’m Megan, and I’m a junior at University of Wisconsin-Madison, who in a few short days will be leaving the freezing Wisconsin countryside for the cobblestone streets of Paris, France. I’m a finance and international business double major with a French certificate (aka a minor at every other university in America) and I love making art, watching movies, traveling, and eating ice cream.

Goodbye Boston, Ciao Milano!

Ciao tutti! My name is Sam Brown, and I am a junior at Brandeis University located right outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Massachusetts has always been my home, and this will be the first experience spending an extended amount of time away from home and out of the country. However, to get there , you first have to make it to Germany and then to Freiburg. Your flight to Europe will most likely not only be your biggest trip expense but also your longest and most stressful.

Why London?

I’ve never been the kind of person who has a hard time making decisions.  I was able to make my college decision relatively scot-free.  I always have an easy time picking my classes each semester.  I love making plans for different excursions with my friends, and I’ve even known for a while now that I’d like to work in the theatre industry.  My decision to study abroad was nothing different.

Some Last Minute US Trips Before Going Aborad

Hi y'all! And welcome to my first blog post! Over the last couple of weeks, I've been spending my somewhat extended break(which was an extra study abroad perk) tackling visas, budgeting, flights, and all the minuta associated with studying abroad. However, after cracking down on all of the paperwork, I think I can comfortably say that I'm ready to fly off. It hasn't all been just grinding away though. I've also had the opportunity to visit and explore a little bit within the U.S.
