IES Abroad Faculty-Led Grants Proposal Process Terms & Conditions
Spring or Summer 2027
IES Abroad will be awarding a total of $50,000 in Faculty-Led Grants to winning proposals submitted by faculty participating in the IES Abroad Faculty-Led Program Grant Proposal process. Participation in the IES Abroad Faculty-Led Grant Proposal Process is free. Submitting a proposal constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. A participant’s entry may be deemed void, in IES Abroad’s sole discretion, if it does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
Eligibility:
Entry is open to faculty at accredited U.S. universities and colleges. Faculty will have the opportunity to submit a proposal for a Faculty-Led Spring or Summer 2027 program in one of three IES Abroad Global Pillars: 1) Sustainable Living, 2) Equitable Living, or 3) Human Well-Being. The proposed program must be located at any of the IES Abroad Centers and must start on or after July 15, 2026, and end on or before July 14, 2027. Proposals will be accepted from February 19, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. CDT until July 1, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. CDT (“Period”).
No purchase necessary to enter or be selected. Entry void where prohibited by law. Entry open to legal residents of the United States who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry.
Entry:
To enter, entrants must submit proposal entry forms during the Period. Entrants may submit up to two (2) proposal entry forms. Faculty may submit proposal entry forms with other faculty at their college or university. There is no limit to the number of proposal entry forms that may be submitted on behalf of any college or university, provided no faculty member submits more than two (2) proposals. By submitting proposal entry forms, all entrants agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
Review & Selection Process:
A panel consisting of IES Abroad’s staff members will select winning proposals. The panel will rank each proposal based on 1) how the location is used as a learning resource; 2) if academic excursions and field trips led by qualified guides are integrated into the program; 3) if the academic program engages students in the intellectual, political, cultural, and/or social institutions of the host country; 4) suggested topics for guest speakers and/or field trips; and 5) program length. Due to the short-term nature of these programs, the panel will give preference to programs taking place in the classroom and IES Abroad cannot guarantee internships and/or community-based learning opportunities if they are included as a program component. IES Abroad will decide the winners and notify them directly. Chance plays no role in determining the winners.
Prize:
Each winner will become eligible to receive a grant towards running their winning proposal, subject to the execution of a contract for services with IES Abroad for said program, and successful recruitment of at least ten (10) student participants in the program. Such grants will be awarded by IES Abroad, in its sole discretion, in the minimum amount of $10,000 per program (“Prize”). IES Abroad reserves the right to set a maximum amount per program. Grant funds are only applicable towards the cost of participation of faculty or student participants, and cannot be applied to guests, even if such guests are approved by School and IES to join a program.
Prize has no cash value, is non-transferable, and may not be redeemed for cash or any other substitute except at IES Abroad’s sole discretion. Winners are responsible for all taxes, fees, and expenses not expressly included in the Prize description, and may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, and, where lawful, a publicity release within the time period specified by IES Abroad. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Winner Notification:
IES Abroad will notify the winners via the faculty university email address entered on the proposal entry form, no later than six weeks following the submission deadline. If a selected winner does not respond within seven (7) calendar days of an initial notification, an alternate winner may be selected, and the initial winner will forfeit their grant. IES Abroad may also announce the winners publicly on its website at www.IESAbroad.org and on IES Abroad’s social media profiles, including without limitation, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok.
Publicity:
IES Abroad reserves the right, and all entrants give IES Abroad permission to use the name, likeness, image, educational background, institutional affiliation and details regarding the winning faculty member(s) in its marketing efforts, including without limitation, on its public website and social media sites in perpetuity without any cost, limitation or restriction, including the payment of any fee. The selected winner(s) will be required to participate in two verbal or written pieces for IES Abroad’s marketing purposes. These may include, but are not limited to, participating in videos or interviews or submitting blogs or short essays written by the faculty members. All entrants grant IES Abroad and its affiliates a world-wide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use such application submissions, videos, interviews, essays or similar content.
Limitation of Liability:
By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless IES Abroad and its affiliates, employees, and agents from any liability arising out of participation in the proposal process or acceptance, use, or misuse of the Prize.
Governing Law:
The proposal process and these Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or related to the proposal process shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located within Illinois.
Privacy:
Information collected from participants will be handled in accordance with IES Abroad’s privacy policy, available at https://www.iesabroad.org/privacy-policy.
General Conditions:
IES Abroad reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the proposal process or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Proposal process dates, terms and quantity per year are subject to change. IES Abroad is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries, or for any technical or human errors.
IES Abroad also reserves the right to contact faculty members who were not selected for a grant to discuss potential programs. All submissions are considered authorized for use in future IES Abroad website content, social media posts, and print materials. These Terms and Conditions were last revised on January 30, 2026.
