Oi Cariocas!

First week done… time flies!

This first week was the perfect entry to what this semester holds for us and even though the weather hasn’t been in our favor Rio couldn’t be more beautiful.

We are 11 IES abroad Rio de Janiero kids spread all around the city. From Laranjeiras to Copacabana, Jardim Botanico and Humaitá: Chris, CJ, Jean Carlo, Nick, Brianna, Kaya, Holly, Josh, Rosemary, Dave and I are all pumped up and ready for the fall semester in this paradise.

We got to meet our host families. Brianna and I are roommates and living in Laranjeiras. It’s a little bit far from the rest but it’s totally worth it. Our host family is amazing. Patricia (our host mom) and Pedro (our host brother) are the sweetest Cariocas I’ve met so far. How they would say here… ‘Eles sou legais’ (I hope that’s right)

Besides meeting our host families, the IES Abroad Rio group, orientation and going to some beaches we got a different (not touristy) taste of Rio this weekend. We went to a Fair in Laranjeiras, had some beers at a bar in Botafogo went to a Food Festival at Lagoa and to Parque Lage.

Only one week and I’m already in love with this city. I can’t wait to call Rio my second home.

Rio, eu te amo!

…until next time.
