A summer internship in Rabat, Morocco’s capital, is an opportunity to witness the country’s current economic, cultural, and demographic changes. You’ll engage with both French and Arabic speakers in this UNESCO World Heritage City, nestled between the Bou Regreg River and the Atlantic ocean.

As you walk the boulevards of Rabat, it’s hard not to be enchanted by the mystery and tradition of this timeless city. From the bustling souqs (open-air markets) and energizing atmosphere of the city to the serenity of the nearby sea, Rabat is an ideal place to learn about the languages, cultures, and religions of North Africa and the Middle East.

Our mission is simple: to provide you with the best study abroad program possible—which includes the highest quality academic and cultural experiences.
While your priority may be gaining professional experience, we also know how important it is to build community where you can reflect and learn about the work world with other students. That's why we offer placements in a wide range of disciplines, and a supplemental required 3-credit seminar.
Before you leave, we work with you to fine-tune your résumé, perfect your cover letter, and hone your communication and interview skills as we prepare you for working in a new cultural environment. You’ll be guaranteed a placement at a local business or organization that fits your professional interests.
You also have the opportunity to learn Moroccan Arabic by taking an optional, 3 credit language course. You should work with your current college or university to learn about how these credits will transfer back to your school.
While working in Rabat, you will enroll in 3 or 6 credit academic seminar with other IES interns. Topics include understanding business culture, improving communication, strengthening work attitude and aptitude, resolving conflicts, and navigating issues, challenges, and opportunities so you can succeed on the job in Rabat and when you return home.

The Center is where our highly trained local staff provide on-the-ground support throughout your time abroad.
The IES Abroad Rabat Center is located within easy walking distance of the city’s famous shopping and cultural hub called The Medina. Whether you’re visiting the significant Mausoleum of Mohammed V, or marveling at the Hassan Tower, the Center is your study abroad hub.
Live with a local family in the Medina within walking distance of our Center and experience Moroccan traditions, family life, and cuisine. You will receive three meals daily. You may request to live with another IES Abroad student in your homestay.
Even though your adventure starts in Rabat, our field trips take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of your host country. All trips are included in the program fee unless otherwise noted with ($).

Experience local Amazigh traditions and participate in activities such as visiting natural springs, meeting with local associations, making bread, and learning about medicinal herbs native to the region.
