Now, I am attending The George Washington University in Washington, DC, as a sophomore, where I am studying Political Science. In 2016 I visited Italy and Rome and saw how beautiful it was and I knew I wanted to study abroad here. I have been a photographer for the last 6 years and loved just about every minute of it!

I play on my school's club ultimate frisbee team and we even went to the national tournament! I am from New York City so navigating public transit is a refined skill of mine. My name is Maleika Stewart I am 21 years old from Westchester County New York and I am a junior at Spelman College majoring in English and minoring in Photography. I will be attending the IES Abroad Rome- Film and Media Studies program in Rome, Italy in the spring semester of 2023. My life interest range from documentary filmmaking, photography, writing, and skateboarding. In the near future I aspire to work as a Photojournalist, more specifically I aspire to report on women’s rights and child labor laws in third world countries to help promote knowledge and share the stories of those who dont have a voice or access to a platform to share their stories. Through the IES Study Abroad program I plan to obtain great storytelling skills and extensive knowledge to express myself in literature, and correspondingly, enhance my confidence and experience in photography.

Susie Webb is a junior journalism and global studies major at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia. At UNC, Susie is the data editor for her school's newspaper, The Daily Tar Heel. She also works for UNC Expeditions and leads backpacking, hiking, and climbing trips for university students. Susie used to play on the club rugby team and was a member of UNC's climbing club.
