Another spontaneous trip with my roommate led us to the city in which love was celebrated. Paris; the city of lights, dreams, and romance. Even though romance is considered to be between two people, I would say the true romance of this trip was between me and the bakery. 

Welcome back to my blog! I hinted in my last post that I’d be doing some more traveling in November, and indeed, I write to you now a few days after returning from the incredible trip I took across Asia over my school break (KUIS was closed for placement exams). I spent 3 days in Singapore, 2 in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), and 3 more in Bangkok (Thailand) and am excited to share my trip highlights from each city with you.

I recently returned from my most eventful vacation to date: a 10-day solo trip across Central Europe. I ended up going to six cities in six different countries, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. 

Since our time in beautiful Granada is winding down, I thought it might be nice to provide a little look into my everyday life here, from classes and homework to tapas and nightlife! Since Thursdays are my busiest (but often most fun!) days, I’m going to walk you through my Thursday, November 21st.

The morning began with my Spanish 352 class at 8:35 a.m. Not going to lie to you, this is sometimes a rough wake-up. But Mondays and Wednesdays my class starts at 9:45 a.m., so the versatility is much appreciated. And Fridays I have no classes, of course! 

This morning, our IES Abroad group set out on a field trip to El Escorial, a magnificent royal palace and monastery nestled in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains. With a small group of just five of us, it felt like an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Spanish history. We met at Moncloa and boarded a bus for the hour-long journey, which I spent alternating between admiring the scenic countryside and trying to get the perfect angle for an Instagram-worthy photo of the rolling hills.
