Last weekend I spent four days in Guangzhou.
This is all the way in the southern part of China, close to Hong Kong and Macau.
Initially I had my reservations because people said there was not a lot to do in Guangzhou, and that it was a relatively dirty city.
One week left of the program! It doesn’t seem possible that my time here is already up. Unfortunately, most of what I’ve been doing recently is writing final papers and studying for my final exams this week. Oh yeah, school! That IS what I’m here for, not just traveling and exploring the city. ; )
Over Semana Santa, a small group of us who stayed in the city took a day trip to Tigre. A 45 minutes, 3 peso train ride takes you to this cute little touristy port city outside the city. Situated on the delta, there are boat rides, picnic spaces, a nice boardwalk and tons of families escaping the city for the day.
As Passover has come and gone, I’m clearly behind on blogging, but nevertheless..
This post is dedicated to David and his family, who were nice enough to drive us all the way from the North side of Quito to the South late at night.
Ciao! This week I have no tales of great travels, but stories of my life in Siena. It was nice to spend a weekend here, relaxing, writing papers, and spending time with my American friends and Italian family. Life is back to “normal” (whatever that is) after a crazy spring break, and my days have been filled with classes, field trips, time at the soup kitchen, language exchange meetings, evening walks around the fortress, many shots of espresso, nights out with friends, huge meals with family, reflection time on my balcony.

The ogo. The most ridiculous, random, and awesome invention I have yet to see in my life.
So before I came to New Zealand, I had heard of zorbing – where you jump in a giant hamster ball and run around in a field. But leave it to NZ to introduce me to the H2OGO- not only do you roll around in a giant plastic ball, but this one is filled with water!
Sounds ridiculous, right? I’m not going to lie- the pictures look pretty ridiculous as well.
With the weather finally clearing up, it feels great to finally shed off all those winter layers.
