Getting a color analysis done is very interesting and fun, especially when going with a friend or two.
I’ve done four different color analysis with some friends and family from four different places. I went to ColorByNari first with, let’s say Friend 1, then BeautyPlay second with some other people, The Bom (Studio Bomnal) with Friend 2, and Color Signal with Friend 3 and my sister.
Check out Part 2 to see the second post :)
ColorByNari - Hongdae - 100,000 Won which was $68.45
ColorByNari has 2 different options, the Full Package at 135,000 Won and the Express Package at 100,000 Won. My friend and I did the Express Package.
Nari was very polite and very prompt about it. She had my friend take off her glasses and had us both put our hair up because she put a white cap on and a white cloth over our shirts. She placed a little device against our cheeks to see our undertones to determine if we were warm or cool toned, and she said we were both warm. After she put the cloths against our chests to determine if we were Autumn or Spring. After she determined that I was a Deep Autumn and my friend was a Neutral Autumn. Nari was also sure to write everything down from what undertone we were to what are our best colors. She showed us some mood boards that fit our seasons and I really liked them and thought I would actually look pretty good in some of them.
While all color analysis are more opinion than fact, I disagreed that warm colors looked better on me. I think that a fair amount of the colors are more muted which I don’t think look that great on me. While I might be warm toned according to the test that Nari did, my friends, sister, and I all think that cooler tones looked better even if Nari disagreed.
Overall, I think that going to ColorByNari was fun but if you want to just go to one place, that I would go to one of the others that I went to.
BeautyPlay - Myeongdong (though there is one in Hongdae too) - Free
BeautyPlay is a self-done color analysis for free unless you want to pay money to have it done. It’s something I would recommend doing with friends.
When getting the color analysis done, you go to a separate smaller room that will take a picture of your face to determine what your season and tone is, which for me it determined I was a Light Summer.
Since this was free and the way the device determines your season is through a picture, it isn’t the most accurate and I certainly believe that this was the season I agreed with least.
The people I went with overall thought it was fun but inaccurate as well. Two of the people thought it was somewhat accurate for them and the other thought it was fine but that they were likely a different season.
Overall, if you wanna do something cheap and fun with friends, it was a fun quick activity to do.
