London Direct Enrollment - University College London Application Requirements

Eligibility Requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • In good standing at your home school
  • 3.3-3.7 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale (3.7 for Economics Dept, 3.3 for History Dept,  and Psychology Dept, 3.5 for English Dept, 3.5 for Management Dept.) Applicant’s GPA must meet published GPA requirement for area/department of study to considered.
  • Junior or senior standing when program begins.
Application Requirements:
  • Online Application
    Applications may be considered after the published deadline on a space available basis. Please note that late applicants may be required to submit a non-refundable confirmation deposit upon acceptance in order to secure a place in the program. Please contact us with questions about applying after the deadline.

Submit the following in your MyIESabroad account after your Online Application is processed:

  • Home School Authorization
    Your on-campus study abroad advisor will instruct you on approval for this program.
  • Official Transcript(s) for each college/university you have attended since high school.
  • UCL Application Form
  • One academic reference from faculty in applicant’s major/minor department(s) on school/departmental letterhead
  • Academic statement of purpose
    • Please attach a personal statement describing your academic interests and reasons for applying to UCL
    • This should be around 1-2  pages long
    • You should focus on your area of Academic interest, and why you are applying to UCL in particular
    • Please remember to write your name at the top of the page in case your statement is separated from the rest of your application

Please note: Final admissions decision are made by University College London, not IES Abroad. Average admission decision wait time is about 4-8 weeks. Non-Humanities majors may also be asked to provide more details on their courses upon application thereby increasing processing time.

Passport & Visa Requirements:

A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end date of the program, with at least two blank pages is required. Visit to locate U.S. passport agencies in your area.

A student visa may be required to enter England. Upon admission, you will receive more information about the application process and any related fees. The visa application process for non-U.S. citizens can be extremely lengthy, please contact us for more information. If you're studying with IES Abroad in England, you may be eligible to use the IES Abroad ACCeSS program. ACCeSS is our visa processing service in which we submit your visa application and supporting documents to the consulate for you.
