About the Program
Location: Accra & Cape Coast, Ghana | Nantes, France
Length: Mid-May to mid-June (dates flexible based on insitutional needs)
The aim of this multilocation program is to provide students with an understanding of slave trade as a global system and more specifically in the context of the Atlantic world from the 15th to mid-19th century. Incorporating classroom instruction and educational excursions in both Ghana and France, we aim to place the teaching of slave trade and slavery within the context of history and by using a global lens, to understand its impact on contemporary societies. Students will take a course at each site that leverages the specifics of place with experiential learning and other site visits.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee the availability of all housing, excursions, cultural events, guest lecturers or tours.
