U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Student Success Coordinator onsite and available to the group. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Afternoon walking tour of downtown Sydney, run by locals, offering a good introduction to Australian History and familiarization of the Central Business District (CBD).

Harbour Cruise:

• Runs the evening of arrival (5 p.m. dinner to assist with jet lag). Two-course dinner on a cruise around the Harbour. Great views of Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and surroundings. Finished by 6:30 p.m., to allow for an early night.

Meals:

• Enjoy two delicious meals (Welcome Dinner and Farewell Dinner) at Sydney's most-loved restaurants to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort. 

Airport Arrival Support:

• Organized airport transfer available via taxi or coach bus service.

Transportation Passes:

• Local transportation passes can be arranged on a customized schedule.

Student Housing:

• Serviced apartments or hotel option. In serviced apartments, two shared bedrooms per apartment, with shared kitchen (no meals included in Chatswood, Chinatown [no laundry], and CBD. Individual rooms are single sex, but apartments are mixed gender. In hotel, 2-3 students per room in individual beds in Newton, Chinatown, or CBD. Breakfast catered upon request.

Faculty Housing:

• Program leaders are typically housed in private accommodation in serviced apartments with a fullyequipped kitchen and Wi-Fi, or in single room at a hotel. 

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes three integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with student interests. Examples include: Sydney Cricket Ground Museum, Sydney Tower Eye, Opera House Tour, etc.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes two day trips out of the city that highlight the context of the immediate region. Examples include: Olympic Park, Fetherdale Wildlife Park and Blue Mountains, Royal National Park, Bondi-to-Coogee Cliff Walk, etc.

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one overnight (3 days/2 nights) field trip to Canberra, Blue Mountains & Jenolan Caves, Jervis Bay, or Port Stevens & Hunter Valley, etc. Includes roundtrip transportation, hotel accommodations, and three group meals. 

Cultural Events:

• IES Abroad will arrange three cultural events for the School’s students during the program. Examples include: a professional athletic event (Australian Football [AFL], Rugby League, Rugby Union, Netball, Soccer), surf lesson at Bondi or Maroubra Beach, etc.

Available upon request. Includes cost of all program components listed above. Does not include international airfare to/from the host country. Ten student minimum required to run the program.
