*Please note that there is an additional non-refundable fee for the Independent Supervision. Once chosen and paid for, this option cannot be dropped.
Courses
Cambridge is one of the most remarkable places in Europe with an unbroken and impressive link, dating back over 800 years, to first class education and scholarship. Its famous alumni, including Newton, Darwin, Wittgenstein, Wordsworth and Tennyson, have illuminated all branches of learning, endeavor and enterprise. Poets, politicians and philosophers have lived and worked here and continue to inspire those who follow them.
The Pembroke Summer Programme provides a rare opportunity to enjoy outstanding small-group teaching in a beautiful and inspiring academic environment. The programme combines the intimacy of College life with the excitement of studying with over three hundred students from all over the world. IES Abroad staff and Programme Assistants, drawn from current Cambridge students, work closely with students to ensure they get the most out of their six weeks in Cambridge.
It is no wonder that so many past students over the years have fallen in love with Cambridge, and they have a unique means of maintaining their connection through lifelong membership of the Pembroke College Circle.
Advising & Support
In a direct enrollment program, you are enrolled as a full-time student at one of our international partner institutions. Even though your local host institution is where you’ll take your classes, we’re still here to fully support you.
Advising
Choosing and directly enrolling in courses abroad can be confusing and overwhelming—we offer you predeparture advising that’s specific to you. Our goal is to provide support and guidance throughout your application and enrollment process.
On-Site Staff
As an IES Abroad student directly enrolled at a local British university, you have access to the IES Abroad London Center and staff who are specifically dedicated to your needs. Our on-site staff work with you and your local institution to answer any questions about academic requirements, housing, or well-being and safety.
Support
Our support services for direct enrollment students are designed to help you achieve your study abroad goals. We know studying abroad is an adventure, and, at times, you may need help or just someone to talk to—that’s why our staff is here for you.
Field Trips & Events
Current University of Cambridge students serve as Programme Assistants (PAs) and organize a wide variety of activities in and around Cambridge. Learn more about the activities and events organized by the PAs in Daily Life.
Daily Life
Part of making you feel at home in Cambridge is doing our best to help you feel safe and cared for. Whether it is an orientation program that makes you feel prepared, housing that is well-located and comfortable, or field trips that take you off the beaten path—we’re all about our student services.
Orientation
Your program begins at home with our virtual orientation to help you prepare for your IES Abroad experience. Upon arrival, you will participate in a short pre-program orientation with IES Abroad in addition to an orientation by the University of Cambridge introducing you to the city and program.
Housing
As part of our direct enrollment services, we offer well-located, comfortable housing for all students because securing housing independently can be challenging. Our housing options reflect the local student culture and meet our safety and security standards.
Extracurricular Activities & Cultural Events
Current University of Cambridge students serve as Programme Assistants (PAs) to make you feel at home and help you get to know other students. Join the PAs for film nights, outings to local cafes, classic Cambridge sports such as croquet and punting, and more. A weekly bulletin details upcoming events, so you can plan to make the most of your Cambridge experience.
