On Monday April 28, IES Abroad Salamanca students, along with the Salmantinos, celebrated one of the most famous traditions of Salamanca, Lunes de Aguas ("Water Monday").

Lunes de Aguas always takes place one week after Easter Monday (once Lent is over), and it is very typical to head out into the surrounding countryside or the river bank to have a picnic with friends and family in the afternoon. Salmantinos relax, enjoy time together, and eat the typical hornazo, a pastry pie filled with spicy sausage, ham, bacon, and sometimes boiled egg.

All IES Abroad Salamanca students participated in the event by going down to the river shore to eat the typical hornazo. Some students baked their own hornazo with their host families. The students enjoyed the event, as it was a great way for them to immerse themselves into the Salmantino community through this cultural event.
