IES Abroad is pleased to introduce the Interim Center Director in Siena, 
Dr. Alice Friscelli. Alice will serve as a substitute for Center Director, Veronica Semeraro, while she is on maternity leave, effective January 7, 2014. Veronica expects to return in time for the start of the Summer 2014 program.
Alice has taught Italian Language at IES Abroad Siena since the program opened in 2006. She earned a PhD in Italian Philology, Literature and History from the Università per Stranieri di Siena. She also holds a Masters in The Art of Writing – Models of Creative Writing in 2004 from the Università degli Studi di Siena. Her research focus has been on contemporary Italian poetry.
In addition to her teaching experience, Alice has worked in the Registrar’s office of the Università per Stranieri di Siena and as a member of the administrative committee of the first International Meeting on Italian Studies in Latin America.
