Every year, IES Abroad recognizes a study abroad professional with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

This year, we proudly honored Rachel Cullenen Gould, Director of Study Abroad at Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY, at IES Abroad’s Annual Conference October 16.

The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes an individual who has supported and strengthened the mission of the study abroad field through extraordinary volunteer efforts. Awardees are determined by their involvement in and leadership of the various organizations that serve the study abroad field, including IES Abroad and its various committees and councils. The award also recognizes and thanks the award recipient’s school, for providing the opportunity to serve in various capacities. The awardee is chosen by the institutional member representatives at IES Abroad.

Ms. Gould received her B.A. in Italian from the State University of New York at Albany and her M.A.T. in Italian from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Ms. Gould has served at Ithaca College for more than 15 years, as Assistant Director and Associate Director of Study Abroad, before assuming her current role as Director. She is actively involved with NAFSA, regularly attending both national and regional conferences. She has presented at the 2011 IES Abroad Annual Conference and served as a member of the IES Abroad Academic Council from 2011 to 2013.

Congratulations!
