IES Abroad Dublin Center Director, Ashley Taggart, was recently awarded a top prize for Radio Drama in the 2009 P.J. O'Connor Awards, Ireland’s leading radio awards.
The play, Happy Hour, was adapted from his screenplay that was originally screened at the Cork and Chicago Irish Film Festivals. Taggart was one of three winners, and in addition to a cash prize, his play was produced and broadcast on Irish radio.
Taggart has led the IES Abroad Dublin center since it opened in the Summer of 2000. He previously lectured at IES Abroad London for five years and holds a master's degree in Renaissance Literature and a doctorate in Modern Drama from the University of York. Originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland, he has also written short stories and screenplays.
