U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Program includes a guided city walking tour.

Meals:

• Enjoy two delicious meals (Welcome Lunch and Farewell Dinner) at Buenos Aires’ most-loved restaurants to build sense of community and cohesion within the cohort.

Airport Transfer:

• Organized airport transfer available via taxi or coach bus service.

Transportation Passes:

• Local transportation passes for the duration of the program.

Student Housing:

• Shared hotel rooms have 24-hour reception, weekly cleaning service, breakfast, and internet included. Typically a 5-minute walk to the IES Abroad Center.

Program Leader (Faculty/Staff) Housing:

• Single hotel rooms have 24-hour reception, weekly cleaning service, breakfast, and internet included. Typically a 5-minute walk to the IES Abroad Center.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes three integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with tourist interests. Examples include: Casa Brandon Civil and Cultural Association, the Argentine Federation of LGBT Community, Casa Trans, Mocha Celis, Chamber of Commerce of LGBTQA, Queer Tango, Museo de Los Inmigrantes, MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires), Museo Etnografico and a local graffiti tour, etc.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one day trip out of the city that highlights the context of the immediate region. Examples include: Estancia Don Silvano (includes Wi-Fi, bicycles, swimming pool access, lunch, and snack) or Tigre (boat ride on Rio Capitan, Puerto de Frutos, free time for shopping).

Cultural Events:

• The IES Abroad Center will arrange three cultural events. Examples include: a tango lesson, a visit to the Museo Evita, the Teatro Colón, a local cooking class, etc.
