U.S.-Based Customized Program Manager (CPM) and Coordinator (CPC):

• Will assist your students in planning and preparing for your program.

Chicago-Based Dean of Students Office and Crisis Management Team:

• Available 24/7 in case of serious student emergencies.

Center-Based Staff (Program Manager/Coordinators):

• Available 24/7 in case of emergencies. Will be your Center contact for the program and work closely with you to prepare and implement the program. Will accompany students on all IES Abroad-sponsored events.

Enhanced Health & Safety:

• Additional predeparture orientations for the cohort prior to arrival on-site. Additional reflection time built into coursework and pre-/post-excursions.

Targeted Academic Student Support:

• In addition to an assigned staff member who can address student issues, academic staff at the Nantes Center will develop opportunities for specialized tutoring and student success skills building, similar to those that exist on U.S. university campuses.

CISI Insurance (Required): 

• This insurance covers IES Abroad students, faculty, and guests anywhere in the world during the specified program dates. Coverage includes doctor’s appointments, hospital stays, mental health treatment, and prescription drugs.

Orientation (Required): 

• Virtual and on-site orientations, including overview of the Center and the city, and comprehensive health and safety.

City Tour:

• Program includes a guided city walking tour.

Meals:

• Enjoy two delicious meals (Welcome and Farewell Dinners) at Nantes' most-loved restaurants. 

Airport Greeting:

• Organized train station/airport greeting and transfer available via bus or taxi service.

Transportation Passes:

• Local transportation passes will be included for the duration of the program.

Student Housing:

• IES Abroad will arrange housing for the School’s students in local homestay accommodation with one or two students per host family. Daily breakfast and dinner are provided on weekdays.

Program Leader (Faculty/Staff) Housing:

• IES Abroad will arrange housing for the School’s faculty member in a furnished one-bedroom apartment in Nantes. No meals are provided but kitchen facilities are available.

Site Visits Within City:

• Program includes three integrated site visits that bring together academic focus with tourist interests. Examples include: Les Machines de l'Ile, Mémorial de l'abolition de l'esclavage, Marché Talensac, Musée d'histoire de Nantes, Musée d'arts, Musée Dobrée, and  relevant walking tours.

Day Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes one day trip out of the city that highlight the context of the immediate region: Clisson.

Field Trips Outside of City:

• Program includes three built-in, overnight cohort excursions that may be linked thematically to courses. Accommodations, meals and activities to be included. Examples include: Normandy, Saint Malo and Mont Saint-Michel, Bordeaux, Loire Valley Castles, Paris.

Cultural Events:

• Program includes three cultural events such as cooking classes, a boulangerie workshop, theatre performances, wine tastings, concerts, and film screenings.
